Veiled recollections – Bogota

Performance that I received the support of the UN in Bogota.
100 women wearing bridal dresses walked through the city, each carrying a basket with wedding favors.
Arriving in a square where there was an old church, the women clung themselves in the walls of the place, bypassing its architecture, enhancing the design of the church facade. After remaining in this position for some time, in silence, they detached themselves of the ancient walls, walking towards the public. At this time, the group of women started to distribute the favors.
The favors were made with packets of tulle, tied with a thin ribbon of white satin. Inside them, three almonds. It’s part of the wedding tradition the favors be delivered at the party, along with a small card printed with the name of the grooms and thanks.
In the performance, the card was folded in half, as a small booklet. On the cover was printed the name Beth Moysés. Inside, in red, the word Miedo (Fear, in Spanish) and on the back cover the phrase, in delicate characters: International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women – in Bogota the performance took place on International Women’s Day.
This action offered the public the opportunity to reflect on the role of the Church, of romantic love and domestic violence against women.
