Memory of affection – Brasília

This performance happened in a public space, in the city of Brasília, in 2002. 120 women participated, wearing bridal dresses. All of them with a connection with the domestic violence. They left the Shelter Home just to be in the performance.
The Shelter Home is located in a secret place founded by government to protect the woman that is being threatened by her partner.
The women walked in silence, on the Três Poderes Avenue, towards the Cathedral. In front of the Cathedral they made a big circle. The bouquet they held were cut and they separated the thorns from the roses.
Kneeling on the ground each woman dug a small hole, where they put these thorns, and covered them with earth, symbolically burying violence. The roses now free from the thorns were replanted on the ground, hoping for a new harvest.
