In this performance there were 20 women who had suffered some kind of violence or had the intention of changing the situation in the life of women.
I put on makeup on the women trying to imitate the bruises left by their partners. They chose the place they wanted to put the bruises: they could represent some memory, or something that happened to them.
On a circle, one facing the other, they exchanged looks and symbolically got in touch residue of the suffering of their partner. One of them started the action taking makeup remover towelettes from the pocket of the dress. They cleaned each other bruises until the circle was closed. These dirty towelettes were buried in small holes.
The performance was finished when each woman took some rice from the pocket that was thrown up in the air in a moment of happiness and celebration of the end of the ritual. In the end, all that was left was a marble stone with the name of the artist and name and date of the performance, marking The International Day For Elimination Of Violence Against Women.
This stone will stay forever on the city ground.
