Diluted in Water – São Paulo

20 women participated in the performance; they were women with the ideal of changing the violence issue in women’s life.
The white dresses were made by them. Each one received a dress and a red marker. Inside the dresses they wrote everything that happened in their lives and all they have suffered. The dresses became a big white page, like a diary.
They wore the dresses and wore a white petticoat under the dresses and held a soap tablet in their hands. They walked around “Praça da Luz” ( Light Square) until “Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo” where the ritual happened .There, they formed a circle and took off the dresses, revealing the writings inside the clothes. It was at this moment that the audience could get in touch with their feelings.
On the floor there were 20 basins filled with water, each one in front of each woman. In a solidarity act, the women washed the dresses trying to remove the scars, the memories and the pain of the other women that were on these clothes; they tried to keep them white. After washed, they twisted them and put the dresses back on, even though they were wet.
The words were left in the basins, diluted in water.
